Malaysian singer-actress JessC continued her international tour of the stage play Music Box, bringing the production to Kota Kinabalu following earlier stops in Indonesia and Taiwan. The latest performance was held at the JKKN Auditorium.

Pushing Physical Limits for the Stage

For the Kota Kinabalu leg, JessC introduced an additional fight sequence to elevate the intensity of the performance. During rehearsals, she sustained multiple bruises and swelling across her body. Despite the injuries, she chose to go on stage, completing the show with unwavering commitment.

Her effort paid off. The performance was met with thunderous applause and cheers from the audience. Clearly moved, she later exclaimed, “The people of Kota Kinabalu are incredibly passionate!”

A Story of Love, Life, and Resilience

Music Box is inspired by a real-life story from the United Kingdom, interwoven with three chapters of JessC’s own emotional journey. The narrative blends romantic love, family bonds, and friendship, delivering a message of hope and resilience through live theatre.

Theatre with a Purpose

More than just a performance, Music Box is a charitable initiative. JessC and the entire production team have taken part without any remuneration, dedicating their time and effort to raise funds for cancer patients.

Since its launch in December 2017, the production has planned over 30 performances worldwide, spanning countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, India, Japan, and Australia. To date, 17 shows have already been staged, marking steady progress in its global outreach.

Closing Note

With every bruise and every standing ovation, JessC continues to prove that true artistry is not just about performance—it is about endurance, purpose, and the courage to give more than what is expected.
