During the pandemic period, Malaysian entertainer JessC has been tirelessly involved in charity theatre, performing in more than 20 fundraising stage productions for cancer patients—each show consistently sold out.
From Meant To Be, to the classical epic The Dream of Red Mansions, and now the ongoing production Tearless Sky, her journey on stage has continuously delivered audiences a message of hope, warmth, and human compassion.
Surrounded by Young Talent, She Feels “20 Again”
Energetic as ever, JessC shared that working closely with a group of young performers—many of whom are university students majoring in drama and musical theatre—has made her feel as if she has “become 20 years old again.”
To prepare for her demanding stage roles, including Lin Daiyu in The Dream of Red Mansions, she maintained a strict fitness and diet routine for months, reducing rice intake while increasing vegetables, fruits, and lean protein. She also incorporated regular exercise, joking that “playing table tennis every day is my best fitness routine.”
A Youth-Driven Production with Emotional Depth
Tearless Sky is directed by Jeffrey Beh and Paul Lee, with JessC starring as the female lead.
The male leads are portrayed by John Lee and Terry Lim, both key members of the Symphony Theatre ensemble. The production also features several experienced theatre veterans in supporting roles.
Adapted from a classic romance novel, the story blends emotional storytelling with contemporary stage expression.
Music as an Emotional Core
The title theme song Tearless Sky is written and performed by JessC herself, showcasing her lyrical and vocal expression of the production’s emotional core.
In addition, Symphony Theatre specially created three original insert songs:
- Together and Eternal — written and performed by John Lee
- Happy Girl — written and performed by Terry Lim
These musical pieces deepen the emotional landscape of the production and enhance its narrative flow.
Stage Premiere and Charity Purpose
Produced by Symphony Theatre (SPAC) and organized by the Malaysia Natural Medicine Association (MNA), Tearless Sky premiered on August 28 at the Symphony Theatre (SPAC) Theatre.
All proceeds from the production are dedicated to the JessC Cancer Fund.
